Join us Saturday, October 14th at 4pm at Pegasus on Solano for a special reading and conversation with critically-acclaimed middle-grade and YA authors Shanthi Sekaran and Shideh Etaat! Shanthi Sekaran is author of The Samosa Rebellion and Boomi’s Boombox (in addition to her award-winning novel for adults, Lucky Boy). Shideh Etaat is author of the young adult novel Rana Joon and the One and Only Now. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
About the authors:
Shanthi Sekaran is a novelist and television writer. Her most recent adult novel, Lucky Boy, was named an Indie Next Great Read, an Amazon Editor's Pick and a Best Book of 2017 by NPR, Barnes & Noble, Library Journal and the San Francisco Chronicle. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, Huffington Post, The Rumpus and Salon. In 2021, her middle grade debut, The Samosa Rebellion, won the Northern California Book Award and was named an Amazon Editor's Pick for readers aged 9-13. Her second middle grade novel, Boomi's Boombox, came out in Spring 2023. She recently wrapped up her work on the acclaimed NBC medical drama, New Amsterdam. She lives in Berkeley with her family and a cat named Frog.
Shideh Etaat is an Iranian American writer living in Los Angeles. She received her MFA in creative writing from San Francisco State University. She is the author of Rana Joon and the One and Only Now and has also had her work published in Tremors: New Fiction by Iranian American Writers, Day One, Foglifter, Nowruz Journal, and My Shadow Is My Skin: Voices from the Iranian Diaspora. When she isn’t busy writing, you can find her helping her young son navigate life.
