About Still Rising: Famous Black Quotations for the 21st Century:
Still Rising: Famous Black Quotations for the 21st Century is a collection of over 500 pithy easy-to-recall one liners and quotable short passages from historic and contemporary thought leaders throughout the African Diaspora. This is a valuable teaching tool that can be used as a guide to significant events in the experiences of people of African descent. If you’ve learned not to trust the internet, Still Rising is your credible source for the eloquent words of Black history makers--the Obamas, Meghan Markle, Colin Kaepernick, Audre Lorde and voices from the Black Lives Matter movement.
About the author:
Janet Cheatham Bell is an essayist, memoirist and author, as well as being the mother of Emmy-winning comedian and filmmaker, W. Kamau Bell. Since the early 1970s, Bell has played a critical role in the development of African American studies as a librarian, researcher, and teacher at major universities. She has also been an education consultant and textbook editor.
