Join us at Pegasus Books Downtown for comics readings with Julia WertzHilary CampbellRita Sapunor, and Briana Loewinsohn. We'll be seeing and hearing what each artist is currently working on--plus, books and zines will be available for purchase at the event. About the authors & cartoonists:

Hilary Campbell is a cartoonist, writer and director from Northern California living in Brooklyn. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times and more. Her films This Is Not the End and Small Talk have won awards at top festivals across the country before becoming Vimeo Staff Picks. Her first book Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, But You Could've Done Better was published by Animal Media Group in 2016. Murder Book: A Graphic Memoir of a True Crime Obsession, her second book, was published in 2021. Follow on Instagram @cartoonsbyhilary!

Briana Loewinsohn is an East Bay cartoonist. She is the author of the acclaimed graphic memoir Ephemera, published by Fantagraphics in 2023. It was listed as one of the American Library Association's top graphic novels of 2023.  Her next book Raised by Ghosts is slated to debut Spring 2025, also with Fantagraphics. Raised by Ghosts is a YA graphic memoir about high school in the 1990s, writing notes, and finding what makes life worth living. Rita Sapunor is an autobiographical cartoonist, illustrator, humorist, and writer whose work has appeared in New York Magazine, Vice, The Onion, Medium, and other outlets. She is the illustrator of She the People: A Graphic History of Uprisings, Breakdowns, Setbacks, Revolts, and Enduring Hope on the Unfinished Road to Women’s Equality. She has self-published two collections of her autobiographical comics, Dear Me and Shock and Awe. She continues to publish comics regularly on Patreon.com/ritalately and occasionally on Instagram @ritalately.

Julia Wertz is cartoonist, amateur historian, and part-time urban explorer. Her latest graphic novels include Tenements, Towers, & Trash, and Impossible People. She does regular short story comics for the New Yorker. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she spent a decade in New York City before settling in Sonoma County, CA, with her partner and their son. She’s currently working on the graphic novel Bury Me Already (It’s Nice Down Here) to be released in 2025. See stuff on instagram @juliajwertz
