After mentally struggling with some of the 9-1-1 calls he had taken and buried, Ricardo found it therapeutic to write about them. He shared his stories via the “ Behind the Mic – Stories from the trenches” podcast. With the addition #IAM911 movement, he asked others to share their stories anonymously. The stories were gut-wrenching, with some occasional happy moments. The majority are hard to read, but that’ s what is real. These stories are a window into the world of the 9-1-1 Dispatchers. Ricardo Martinez II is the creator/host of Within the Trenches Podcast (with over 2 million downloads) and Founder of the #IAM911 movement (with over 60 thousand followers). #IAM911 hit Canada and spread across the pond to the U.K., and Australia, spawning #IAM999, and #IAM000. For 13 years, he answered the call of a 9-1-1 dispatcher before starting Within the Trenches Media. In addition, Ricardo is frequently a keynote speaker and presenter at public safety communications conferences.
