Pegasus seeks volunteer bookgivers for World Book Night

World Book Night 2012 booklist

World Book Night 2012 booklist

Dear booklover,

Would you like to give away 20 copies of a terrific book to people who do not have regular access to literature?

Pegasus Books cordially invites you to join us in giving away 1 million books on a very special night of the year, April 23rd, World Book Night. Authors, publishers, booksellers and booklovers across the country are joining their counterparts in Great Britain and Germany to share their love of books with light or non-readers from all over their different communities.

We have a wonderful list of thirty titles representing all kinds of fiction, from a gloriously diverse group of authors. These books are being donated by publishers, printers and distributors, and the authors have waived their royalties for these special editions of their work.

Here's how it works:

1. Check out the beautiful book list here. Then sign up to be a volunteer book giver here. (the deadline to apply to be a giver is FEBRUARY 6.)

2. Pick your first three choices for a title that you would like to give out to individuals in a non-traditional-book environment. (Think senior centers, shelters, hospitals, train stations!) For each title, tell us specifically where you would distribute the book. Also designate from which location you prefer to pick up your book. Pegasus Books, all three locations, will be happy to be your pick-up point, and some libraries and other entities will also be participating in this event.

3. If you are accepted as a volunteer giver, you will be able to pick up 20 copies of one of the titles you selected, from the location you selected. Pegasus Books will be hosting a pick-up party (date TBA) to share stories and plans.

4. On Monday, April 23rd, take your books out into your community and help awaken a love of literature in someone who was least expecting it!

This event is FREE, sponsored by publishers, printers and distributors who are donating specially printed copies of the books; by authors who have waived their royalties; and by booklovers across the country who are signing up in droves. Again, the deadline to apply to be a volunteer donor is soon - FEBRUARY 6, so do join us without delay!
